Buck Up... Or Else

The President of the United States tells Rolling Stone magazine:

You sure did, Barry.  We're getting the message loud and clear.

[...] Two Philadelphia police officers joined at least four TSA officers who had gathered around her. After conferring with the TSA screeners, one of the Philadelphia officers told her he was there because her checks were numbered sequentially, which she says they were not.

"It's an indication you've embezzled these checks," she says the police officer told her. He also told her she appeared nervous. She hadn't before that moment, she says.

She protested when the officer started to walk away with the checks. "That's my money," she remembers saying. The officer's reply? "It's not your money." [...]

Americans clearly need to familiarize themselves with the concept of impunity so they can put on the appropriate happy face in these times when it would be "inexcusable" for Democrats and progressives to sit on their hands while the President is working so hard to keep all those dangerous enemies of the people from ruining everything.

As our Vice President says, "Buck up, people."  They can have you disappeared with impunity, you know... so do try to keep up a positive attitude.

Who Will The President Order To Be Assassinated Next?

I'm hoping for Sharron Angle.

Not that I want to see anybody killed or any violence to be done to anyone whatsoever... that would be abhorrent.  Nobody should want, especially, for any candidates running for public office to be assassinated.  I really really really don't want anybody to be assassinated, much less on the orders of the President of the United States of America.  Ever.  No exceptions.

Really.

That said, if the President is going to exercise his power to order up death squads to carry out the assassination of American citizens without due process or any judicial review of his targeting decisions, then I'd be curious to know why Sharron Angle shouldn't be on his kill list.

After all, Sharron Angle quite infamously threatened violent revolution against the government of the United States if her political movement were defeated at the ballot box.  Her political movement is well-documented to be affiliated with known terrorist organizations with international connections.

And besides, what's the use of having the power to assassinate your political enemies with complete impunity if you're too much of a pussy to use it effectively?

Seriously, Barry.  Why wait until after the election?  Order your death squads to have her disappeared right now. Send her into some extrajudicial oubliette somewhere, and torture the names of all the other cell leaders out of her with an electric drill.  Who's going to stop you?  While you're at it, you could send a few piquant messages to the rest of the little tin revolutionaries running around America threatening a violent uprising by capping Glenn Beck's ass.

That is what the latest DOJ filing is all about, isn't it?  It wasn't enough to justify the "targeted killings" —which is just a convenient euphemism for state-terrorism —by pointing at the Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) or the "inherent right of self-defense" as previous filings on this topic have done.  No, the latest one actually makes the argument —in all seriousness —that the President doesn't have to explain to any court why he's ordered a wetwork team to drop an American citizen if he asserts that it's a State Secret.

So, in all seriousness, Mr. President... why aren't Sharron Angle and Glenn Beck targeted for assassination yet?  Inquiring minds would really like to know.

Obama tells liberals to just "wake up," and give a brother some credit for doing some good stuff.

I do give Obama full marks in some areas and I do realize that Democracy is messy and we don't all get what we want all the time, yer highness. And in the inverse I get to say, I fscking told you so when we see stories like the one in the WaPo this morning detailing how insurance companies are going to start screwing people instead of following the new healthcare law. Thank God, there's no government run option for those folks to turn to... that might have pissed off the right wing cranks in Congress...

Cheap Grifter 4 Senate

Next, Melanie Sloan and the gang at CREW want the U.S. Attorney in Delaware to bring the hammer down on the Tea Party's newest flavor of the week, Christine O'Donnell. Aside from dabbling in the dark-arts and refusing the adulterous joys of self-gratification, apparently the perennial crank candidate from Dover is also an intellectually crippled, low-rent grifter who has been skimming off her war chest for personal funds for a while now...

Even I have to admit, though... throwing around accusations like that among our national political classes seems a bit... I don't know... pointless? Although, given her "freshness" as the face of the Tea Party's new politics, it does give one pause for laughter.

Serious Tea

Then on to more Tea Party hijinks: Comrade Joshua's hive of liberal malcontents have detailed the spending of the Tea Party Express on Tail Gunner Joe Miller's senate campaign to beat Lisa Murkowski. They spent better than a half-million dollars on this nutjob to make him presentable to the Alaskans. And you'll get a kick out of what they were spending it on... here's a hint: the Tea Party express paid $1,500 bucks a head for staffers to take a cruise up the Alaska coast to "campaign for Miller." The new politics, indeed.

And while we're on the subject of the Alaska Senate race, Lisa Murkowski, much like good old Joementum before her, has decided she's not quite done, and is running an independent campaign for Senate in November. If you recall, we didn't give Joementum much of a chance either...

It would be interesting to see if other GOP insitutionalists punked by the Tea Party might not think of doing this...

The Final Solution

Finally, this morning, we have the strange tale of GOP hopeful Jim Russell running for the New York 18th district house seat of Nita Lowey. The Republicans have really jumped the shark on this one. Apparently, young Mr. Russell is a contributor to a quaint little publication entitled -- innocuously enough -- Occidential Quarterly. This rag exists primarily as a really laughable attempt to trowel a thin veneer of academic verisimilitude-fulness over blatantly ignorant racist whingery.

Apparently, our Mr. Russell is a fan of the "Final Solution..." Even a cursory bit of research on this guy would have turned this up. Has the GOP really gone so far down that road that an open racist who believes that eugenics is a key to the salvation of western civilization is really the guy they want carrying their banner in a district held by a long-term moderate liberal democrat?

Newt Gingrich: Hatier Than Thou

So Newt Gingrich wants a federal law to ban Sharia Law from having any authority in the United States...

We should have a federal law that says sharia law cannot be recognized by any court in the United States," Gingrich said to a standing ovation from the audience. The law will let judges know, Gingrich said, that "no judge will remain in office that tried to use sharia law."

I guess he's finally decided to embrace his inner hedonist; support gambling, booze and homosexuality, all three of which are expressly forbidden in Sharia.

Newt's becoming very broad minded... I just wish he'd make up his mind. Only a couple of days ago, he was touting the values of Islamic-style religious intolerance saying we should prohibit mosques the way Saudi Arabia prohibits churches and synagogues.

America is experiencing an Islamist cultural-political offensive designed to undermine and destroy our civilization. Sadly, too many of our elites are the willing apologists for those who would destroy them if they could.

Moreover, I wonder why he decided to make his break with American radical conservatism during the Value Voters Summit. Strange that all those nominally wingnut types seemed to agree with him as well... maybe he's planning on running for the Democratic nomination for President in 2012...

Oh Newt, is there no depths to which your low-rent sophistry cannot sink?

Todays Red Foreman Award: It's a Tie! Wait..no it's not...

A new semi-regular feature here at the Mojowire, The Red Foreman Award.  Given to statements and acts of utter freaking stupidity that shock even the jaded editors at the Mojwire.  And believe us folks, we spent the Bush years parsing the week to week hijinks of George Bush, Dick Cheney, David Addington, and the rest of that crowd.  It takes something special to surprise us.  But there are plenty of people working hard to earn the coveted award. 

Our inaugural edition of this auspicious award goes to two special contestants who we expect to see competing often for this award: Sarah Palin and Dinesh D' Souza.

But, frankly, Muslim life is cheap, most notably to Muslims. And among those Muslims led by the Imam Rauf there is hardly one who has raised a fuss about the routine and random bloodshed that defines their brotherhood. So, yes, I wonder whether I need honor these people and pretend that they are worthy of the privileges of the First Amendment which I have in my gut the sense that they will abuse.

Nicholas Kristof in today's Gray Lady does a passable takedown of Marty's poisonous diatribe, although I think he gives him way more credit for being a "prominent American commentator," than I believe necessary.

I read stuff like Marty's and I get confused regarding who really constitutes a danger to America.

No scratch, that... I read Marty, and I know exactly who the real enemies of America are.
